Pain Management Compounded Medications

If you're living with chronic pain, you know how frustrating it can be to find relief. Oral pain medications often come with unwanted side effects, and they may not be effective for everyone. For nearly 100 years, Letourneau’s Compounding Pharmacy has been compounding custom pain management prescriptions tailored to your specific conditions and types of pain. Read below about some of the compounding options that we offer.

Low Dose Naltrexone

You may have heard of naltrexone as a treatment for alcohol use disorder, but at lower doses it has been shown to be effective in reducing pain and inflammation, especially in autoimmune diseases. Some of the conditions in which LDN may be beneficial include:

Neurodegenerative Diseases

  • ALS
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s

Autoimmune Disorders

  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Ulcerative colitis

Other Disorders

  • Some cancers
  • Spine and back pain
  • Late-stage Lyme disease

Topical Pain Creams

Over 20% of United States citizens report experiencing chronic pain. Most people with chronic pain syndromes have tried numerous treatments including injections, physical therapy, opioids, and other oral pain medications. But what if you could treat your pain without taking oral medications that cause unwanted side effects and may affect your whole body?

Unlike oral therapies, our topical pain creams are applied directly to the site of pain and absorb through the skin to the affected area.  This route of administration allows for optimal levels of drug to treat your symptoms, with very small amounts of medication being absorbed systemically compared to oral administration. The topical route of administration allows for optimal levels of drug to treat your symptoms, with less systemic side effects . This route of administration is easy, convenient, and allows for a decreased number of side effects. We are able to incorporate some of the medications you may already be taking into one topical formulation, which decreases your pill burden as well.

Treatment of Anal Fissures

Anal fissures are tears within the anal canal that cause inflammation, pain, and spasm. We are able to compound topical medications that relieve the pain on application and contain medication the help heal the fissure. There are three main medications to help heal the fissure:

If you experience any of these conditions or are interested in learning more about the treatment plans described above, please feel free to contact Letourneau’s Compounding Pharmacy today. We are happy to work with your physician to create the best topical therapy for your unique pain.
